Quo Vadimus

There have been two boats named Quo Vadimis, the 2000 Adventurecraft and the 1993 45′ Bayliner 4588 Pilothouse. There are are links to pictures to the Bayliner farther down the page.


1993 Bayliner Specifications

  • Length at the waterline is 45′, length from the bowsprit to the swim platform is 49′

  • Draft (how much water we need) is 3′ 6"

  • Air Draft (height) is 17′ 6"

  • Beam (width of the boat) is 15’11"

  • Weight is 23,000 lbsempty, with 400 gallons of fuel, 200 gallons of water, the two of us, the cat and our stuff, ~29,000 lbs (fuel and water weigh 4,200 lbs)

  • Two Hino diesel engines at 250 HP each

  • We average a mile a gallon of fuel

  • There is a 12.5 kWatt generator that can power the entire boat for overnight stays

  1. was your loop trip fuel consumption so far 4.94 gph as indicated by your posted stats in the forum? And you are not yet completed correct?

  2. We are presently at 3200 miles of a estimated 6000 mile trip.

    Overall we have gotten 1.34 gallons per mile, the best was in the fast current of the Mississippi where we got over 3 miles per gallon.

    I don’t do gallons per hour since that has lots of “it depends in it” But according to the spreadsheet, we are at 4.9 gallons per hour. Based on my average 8 miles per hour and my current MPG rate, that number is right.

    Bottom line is running the Quo Vadimus is pretty much taking money out and going “20 40 60 80 … ” as we go down the river.
